Spring is here and with it comes weddings. Last Saturday morning we had the opportunity to attend the Spring Bridal Show under the tents during Charleston Fashion Week. The show consisted of four wedding boutiques, emerging bridal designer Brooke Ray and featured designer Anne Barge! Over night the tent had transpired into a girly haven consisting of chandeliers, mimosas, hors d’oeuvres to be sampled, flowers galore from Gathering, and tables set up with anything and everything bridal. My favorite was Brackish Bow ties. A man in a bow tie will always get this girls attentions!
Liz White had an equal pairing of bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses walk the runway. I heard murmurs around me speak of it being reminiscent of Old Hollywood. Perfect for the woman and wedding looking for that vintage romantic feel.
Children started off the runway barefoot for boutique One Love. Following came a beautiful assortment of bridesmaid dresses and ending with wedding couture. A nice selection of classic gowns perfect for any fashion knowing bride.
Emerging Designer Brooke Ray
Brilliant! Her whole collection was almost beyond words for me. Brooke Ray was whimsical, earthy, feminine and young. Many of her models had crowns of flowers to fulfill the overall look of natural beauty. This woman makes me want to marry. Then divorce. And marry all over again so that I have reason to buy and wear all of these gowns!
More beautiful gown to be seen. This assortment of gowns from White would be perfect for any discriminating southern bride looking for both glitz and glamour. All hair done in high buns to round out the overall look.
There were many gown that I truly enjoyed form local Charleston boutique Modern Trousseau. There was one gown in particular with a heart shape cut out in the back that really spoke loudly to me. The sweetness and old world beauty with many having lace overlays and pockets! Who doesn’t love a dress with a pocket?
Featured Designer Anne Barge
Anne Barge took us out of the south and straight to Paris, the city of love. With French music guiding the brides down the runway her collection was inspired by old world elegance bringing the whole experience full circle. Magnificent!
When I asked her to describe her collection in a few short words…
Classic, timeless, think of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly and there you’ll have it.
